Notes for Raymond Kenneth BERGMAN , Jr.R. Kenneth BERGMAN PITTSFIELD, Ill. -- R. Kenneth Bergman, 87, of Pittsfield, died Tuesday (March 2, 2010) in the Griggsville Estates in Griggsville. Kenneth was born March 29, 1923, near Baylis, a son of Raymond Kenneth Sr. and Mildred R. Crawford Bergman. He married Charlene Bradburn on April 13, 1946, in Pittsfield United Methodist Church, and she survives. Kenneth was a farmer and a seed corn and livestock feed sales representative for numerous years. He was a sales representative for the Hobbit Seed Co., Bear Seed Co. and the Columbiana Feed and Mineral Co. He was a member of the Detroit Christian Church, enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, and was quite known for giving out peppermint candy. One of his favorite pastimes was going to the Cardinal Inn for coffee where he loved joking with the waitresses and visiting with friends. He was a member of the Liberty Farm and Good Road Club, a St. Louis Cardinals fan, Chicago Bulls fan and a NASCAR fan. He is survived by his wife, Charlene of the Griggsville Estates; four children, son Steve Bergman of Greeley, Colo., and three daughters, Judy (Charlie) Duggins of New Berlin, Jane (Tom) Moore of Longmont, Colo., and Sandy (Steve) Smothers of Pittsfield; two sisters, Dorothy Lippincott of Pittsfield and Eleanor Braun of Gulfport, Miss.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. His parents and a sister, Elizabeth Fudge, preceded Kenneth in death. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday in the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with the Rev. Eric Moore, Mike Evans and Tom Barger conducting. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. A lunch will be served for the family and friends at the Cardinal Inn in Pittsfield after the burial. VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. Devoted wife and mother passed away peacefully on 16 December 2009. She was born in Liberty, IN on 31 May 1924 to Aaron Forrest and Mabel (Overman) Stout. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, David D. Bradburn on October 18, 2008; 3 brothers and 3 sisters. In 1942 Bertha joined the war effort as an administrative assistant at Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio. She married David D. Bradburn in 1956 and raised sons, David and Robert in Manhattan Beach, California. Bertha was active in PTSA, Officer's Wives Club, singing ensembles and many community efforts through her beloved Manhattan Beach Community Church. She enjoyed world travel with her David and was a dedicated caregiver to him in his final years. She is survived by her two sons and four grandchildren. Memorial service will be Saturday, 16 January 2009 at 1:00 pm, Manhattan Beach Community Church, 303 South Peck Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
