Doris M. Smith, 73, of Lathrop died Sunday at her home.
Mrs. Smith was a lifelong resident of the Lathrop area. She was a partner in Smith Nursery of lathrop 'for 47 years.
She is survived by her brothers, Homer Brooks and Sherid Brooks, both of Manteca; and sisters, Delores Baker of Yreka and Vina Smith of Lathrop.
A funeral is set at 1 p.m. Thursday at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Chapel, Manteca Burial will be at Park View Mausoleum. Visitafion is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.

Sherid Brooks, 75, of Manteca died Tuesday at his home.
Mr. Brooks was a native of Stockton and lived in Manteca 48 years. He owned Brooks Body Shop for 48 years. He was a member and past president of the Manteca Lions Club, and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He enjoyed his ranch, reading, collecting antique auto memorabilia, restoring classic cars and horse racing.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Brooks of Manteca; children, Shereen Cook, Tamara Foreman and Mark Brooks, all of Manteca; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Private burial at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Escalon. Visitation from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home.
Remembrances may be made to the Hospice of San Joaquin, 2609 E. Hammer Lane, Stockton 95210; or the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 525 E. North St., Manteca 95336.

Sherid Brooks

Sherid Brooks, 75, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, and is now at rest after a long courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Phyllis, and was the loving father of two daughters, Shereen Cook and fianc/, Greg Trimble, and Tamara Foreman and husband Dave Foreman, and a son Mark Brooks. Loving grandfather of three grandsons, David Cook, Jason Cook and wife Tina, Todd Unrein, and a granddaughter Nicole Unrein, and a great-grandson Austin Cook. He is also survived by two sisters, Vina Smith of Lathrop and Dolores Baker of Yreka. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, the late Homer Brooks, and three sisters, the late Agnes Rudd, Doris Smith and Velma Craig.
Sherid was born in Stockton, the youngest of seven children. His family farmed in Union Island and Roberts Island. He was the owner of Brooks Body Shop for 48 years, which was one of the longest operating businesses in Manteca. He was a member and past president of Manteca Lions Club and a member of St. Anthony's of Padua Church.
Sherid's ranch and animals were a great passion of his as was reading. His current interest after retiring two years ago was searching for antique auto memorabilia for his new office, restoring classic cars and horse racing. Another of his joys were the many family get togethers and the annual family vacation at the coast. His family was of utmost importance in his life and his happiest days were those spent with his family.
P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 29, 1 to 6 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son, 290 N. Union Rd. A Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, March 1, 2004 at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 525 E. North St. Burial will be private.
Remembrances may be made to the San Joaquin Hospice or St. Vincent De Paul Society.

Sherrie A. Moss

Sherrie A. Moss, (nee Stinnett), age 66, of Hartford, formerly of New Mexico, passed away Wednesday December 5, 2007 at her residence.
She was born on April 23, 1941 in Carrizozo, NM to the late Robert and Margarett (nee Elliott) Stinnett, and was united in marriage to James Moss on April 27, 1974 in Golden, CO.
Sherrie worked as a Lab Technician for the State of New Mexico until her illness forced her to retire. She moved to Hartford in 2005 to be near her children. Sherrie was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by four children, Randall (Donna) Smithwick and Daniel (Sue) Smithwick, both of Ft. Worth, TX, Gary (Corinna) Boteler and Jerry (Felicia Pfeifer) Boteler, both of Hartford; seven grandchildren, Rachel and Christopher Smithwick, Tara and Ronnie Smithwick, Lisa and Tiffany Boteler, and Katrina Boteler; a great-grandson, Seth-Paul Ayers; other relatives and friends. Her husband, James, preceded her in death in 1990.
It was Sherrie's wish that there be no visitation or funeral service. Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice. Cremation took place at Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral & Cremation Service.

Notes for James Leo STINNETTJames 'Jim' Leo Stinnett
ENID -- Funeral for former Fletcher resident James "Jim" Leo Stinnett, 72, Enid, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fletcher First Baptist Church with the Rev. A.L. Swagerty and the Rev. Rodney Campbell, pastor, officiating.
Mr. Stinnett died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at his home.
Burial with military honors will be at Celestial Gardens in Cyril under direction of Hodge Funeral Home, Fletcher.
He was born Aug. 21, 1931, southeast of Elgin to Fulton and Lucille Bridges Stinnett. He attended Mistletoe Country School as a young boy and began attending Fletcher schools in early 1941. He enlisted in the Army on June 18, 1947, when he was almost 16 and served during the occupation of Japan. After serving his four-year term and leaving the Army on June 17, 1950, he worked for civil service for approximately three years out of Fort Hood, Texas. He often worked in the Fort Sill area. He married Dee Chloe Huffine on Jan. 20, 1951. He enlisted in the Navy on Feb. 10, 1954, and served as a Navy Seabee for approximately 23? years before retiring on Sept. 1, 1977, at Port Hueneme, Calif. He played softball while he was in the Navy, and served many tours including Hawaii in 1959, Vietnam from 1966 to 1969, Guam, Diego Garcia, Thailand, the Philippines and Yap. American tours include Key West, Fla.; Corpus Christi, Texas; Alaska; Port Hueneme; and San Diego. Upon retirement from the Navy he worked for Cummins Construction Company in Enid in late 1977. He served as Asphalt Plant Forman for approximately 14 years before retiring Dec. 31, 1991. He was then a part-time inspector and consultant on numerous FAA airport projects.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three children: Jimmie Stinnett and his wife, Julie, Lone Oak, Ark.; Dee Ann Bell, Chesapeake, Va.; and Fulton Stinnett, Altus; a brother, Wayne Cable and his wife, Jo Ann, Dallas-Fort Worth; four grandchildren: Devon Stinnett, John Stinnett, Bryan Bell and Tracy Bell Hanson; three great-grandchildren: Alex Hanson, Bailey Stinnett and Brooke Stinnett; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and close friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
