Notes for Rebecca STINNETT

According to the 1860 Texas census, Rebbecca was 41 years old, which means she was born about 1819.

Steven died in Tennessee and Rebecca and her family moved to east Texas to be near her family (I believe her brother moved to Texas some time before 1850). On the 1850 Titus County, Texas US Census, the RYAN family lived a short distance from the FLATT and STINNETT families. The head of the Ryans was Harris RYAN. I was told that Harris is short for Harrison. Harris had married to a woman by the name of Sara(h) Ann SMITH (I guess everyone's got a little Smith blood in them). He was from Alabama and she was from Tennessee. Most of the children were born Alabama. Robert Samuel FLATT married Mary Elizabeth RYAN on April 25, 1867. They must have known each other for at least seventeen years before they were married. Robert and Mary had a daughter by the name of Mary Mahally FLATT. She married my geat-grandfather Alphred (or Alford or Alfred) F. NEILL. The Neill's, Stinnett's and Flatt's were from the same general area of Tennessee, Henderson and Hardin counties. They all seemed to have ended up in the same county: Parker County, Texas just next the county I live in now, Tarrant. Sorry to be so long winded, but I think we may have a connection here.
