FORT WORTH - William Dwight Cain Sr., a retired grocer and hardware store owner, died Wednesday in Fort Worth. He was 72.
Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Cain was born in Stephenville and had lived in Fort Worth since 1961. He previously lived in Lubbock for 17 years. He was a former employee of Scottie Stamps, was a grocer from 1941 to 1984 and after retirement was a food broker for Brown Moore and Flint.
Mr. Cain was a volunteer firefighter for Willow Park and was a member of Westcliff United Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the 1st Infantry Division.
Survivors: Wife, Valli Goodwin Cain of Fort Worth; daughter, Linda Cain Peters of Fort Worth; four stepdaughters, Christine Johnson of Annetta, Peggy Pichardo of Coral Springs, Fla., and Dorothy Grisham and Brenda Anderson, both of Fort Worth; two brothers, Doyle Cain of Burnett and Ersal Cain of Fort Worth; a sister, Marjorie Nell Casparis of Odessa; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
