Roy Howell
Roy B. Howell, 70, of Route 2, Elkhart, was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital at 7:50 a.m. today after a short illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Anderson County, he was born August 2, 1901, son of the late Virgil N. Howell and Mrs. Mary Exa Wynne Howell. He was a retired farmer and carpenter.
Services are pending, and will be announced later by Hassell & Foster Funeral Home.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mattie Ellen Howell of Elkhart; one son, Mitchell R. Howell, Bellaire; one daughter, Mrs. Terry Goodman, Palestine; seven brothers, Luther Howell, Olen Howell, Jack Howell, Eldred Howell, Carson Howell, and Hershell Howell, all of Baytown, and Travis Howell, Lake Charles, La., and five grandchildren.

RITES WEDNESDAY FOR C. C. HOWELL
Funeral services for Clifford Carlton Howell, 63, of Elkhart, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Hassell & Foster Chapel, Palestine. Rev. Billy Sanders will officiate and burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Elkhart.
Mr. Howell died following a month illness at 6:20 p.m. Monday in a Palestine hospital. He was born in Elkhart on January 2, 1900. Before retiring, Mr. Howell was an employee of the Humble Oil Refinery at Baytown for almost 30 years. He moved back to Elkhart six years ago.
Pallbearers will be Hollis Kirkwood, Oren Kirkwood, Gary Love, J. C. Shaver, Adam Killion, Joe Bailey Parker and Francis Bratz.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Leona Howell of Elkhart; two brother, H. L. Howell of Palestine and C. L. Howell of Elkhart; six sisters, Mrs. Thelma Griffith of Gilmer, Mrs. Lillie Gammage of Elkhart, Mrs. Maye McCormick of Palestine, Mrs. Ida Hamby of Victoria, Mrs. Bernice Love of Sherman and Mrs. Margie Bunch of Austin; and his step-mother of Austin.

Services for Lillie Gammage, 98, of Elkhart, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Petersen officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart.
Mrs. Gammage died Friday in a local nursing home.
She was born Sept. 15, 1904, to Charlie M. Howell and Larie Bennie Glenn Howell.
Mrs. Gammage was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Elkhart. She worked for almost 40 years at Western Auto Store.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paxton Gammage; and an infant son.
Mrs. Gammage is survived by sister, Bernice Love of Sherman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Garth Moran, Joe Chaffin, Cliff Griffith, Ray Griffith, Charles Howell and Misty Howell.

Prior to retiring, he was a brakeman for Missouri Pacific Railroad with 32 years service.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Reba Turner Howell of Palestine; one son, H.L. Howell of Palestine; one grandson, Joel Howell of Salinas, Calif.; four granddaughters Miss Julie Howell of Salinas, Calif., and the Misses Kresten, Tracie and Leslie Howell, all of Palestine; one brother, C.L. He was born on May 13, 1906, in Elkhart. He was retired from the research lab at Exxon Chemical. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, Goose Creek Masonic Lodge 1192, Exxon Annuitants and was active for many years with Boy Scouts and Little League.
He was a member of the order of the Eastern Star, Goose Creek Chapter 796.
